Potholders to Powerhouse: The Backstory of Simply Stella Handmade

Hello there, I’m Stella, owner of the small business Simply Stella Handmade, where we sell handmade goods made with love and care. I wanted to share my story and tell you about who we are at Simply Stella Handmade.

First off, I wanted to let you know that when I say “we”, I am referring to myself and everyone else who helped me with my business, such as my family, friends, and peers.

My business all started when I was making potholders for fun. My aunt gave me a set of potholder loops and two looms for my birthday one year, and I was obsessed with making them. I was just finishing a potholder when I had an idea: What if I took these potholders and sold them? That is all where my business started—with potholders! 

Since that day when I decided to make potholders, I’ve opened my own Etsy shop, participated in a craft show, expanded to more items, such as cat toys and earrings, and grown more than I ever could’ve imagined.

I’d like to give a special shoutout to everyone who has helped me along this journey. To my mom, dad, and brother: thank you for always supporting me and helping me achieve my dreams. To my extended family: I am so grateful for you and your never-ending encouragement. You keep me going! To my friends: thank you for purchasing from my shop and being my fan-club. I couldn’t imagine what I’d do without you. To my customers and fans: you’re awesome! I am so glad you take the time to purchase from me and follow my journey. I have such a wonderful support system backing me up. And lastly, to everyone out there who thinks I’m crazy: You are the reason I keep going; so I can prove you wrong.
